  • Engineering Lead (Civil/Structural or Mechanical)

    Engineering Lead (Civil/Structural or Mechanical)

    Our client is looking for an Engineering Lead to join their growing team. Based in Stettler, our client is one of Canada’s largest flare stack builders and has an excellent reputation in the industry.

    This successful candidate will be responsible for the engineering/drafting team in designing and building flare stacks for clients across North America. Everyone wears many hats within the organization, the successful candidate will be expected to do whatever is needed for the benefit of all. 

    This is a permanent position located in Stettler, AB.  Stettler is a booming and growing community less than one-hour East of Red Deer.  There may be opportunity to work remotely part-time for the right candidate.

    Responsibilities:

    1. Design & review flare stacks for structural integrity as per company’s standards and NBCC 2015 (& other codes as applicable).
    2. Complete/review lifting studies on flare stack erections
    3. Keep company up to date structural standards and codes 
    4. Ability to operate AutoCAD and/or Solid works, Run FEA's on flare stacks/structural skids/parts
    5. Assist in the product design and development.
    6. Continuously learn and develop their skills in the growth of the company 
    7. Ambition to be disciplined in more than just structural design - electrical & possibly process flare sizing project management skills 
    8. Possibility of learning flare sizing and quoting of flare systems
    9. Ability to review and stamp P&IDs
    10. Willing to teach the right person some components of the industry, but they will also need to work and learn on their own. 

    Qualifications:

    1. 7+ years’ experience in civil/structural or mechanical engineering
    2. APEGGA Certified P. Eng.
    3. Previous leadership experience an asset
    4. Experience with flare stacks an asset

  • Operations Foreman

    Operations Foreman

    Our client is currently seeking a Operations Foreman for the Simonette Gas Plant, located approx. 90km south of Valleyview, AB. This role will be responsible for the direction of all Operational and Project work activities related to the Plant.

    Relocation is available to the Valleyview, Alberta area. Camp accommodations / rotation may be considered.

    Responsibilities:

    1. Overseeing operations and functions related to the facility.
    2. Assist the operations team in the development and implementation of area goals and objectives.
    3. Manage day to day operational challenges and priorities, work closely with Area leadership in meeting local and corporate targets.
    4. Lead/support development and implementation of HSE initiatives for the facility
    5. Assist with the preparation and delivery of budgets including monthly LE reviews.
    6. Prepare weekly area updates.
    7. Lead and direct the development of work processes and operating procedures to enhance operational effectiveness.
    8. Ensure appropriate resources are in place to safely operate equipment in the area.
    9. Ensure operational and maintenance efficiencies are achieved.
    10. Liaise with customers/facility partners and with regulators, industry associations and stakeholders.
    11. Manage local facility modification/optimization projects and turnarounds.
    12. Manage facility staff and support them through mentoring and development.
    13. Overall responsibility for facility Emergency Response Plan.
    14. Work with other Area Pipeline/Facility personnel to achieve any cost or productivity efficiencies.
    15. Actively support the development and implementation of Operational Excellence.

    Qualifications:

    The successful candidate will be well-organized, energetic, and service oriented with the following qualifications:

    1. 10+ years industry experience in sour gas processing facilities operations.
    2. Previous supervisory experience is an asset.
    3. Working knowledge of applicable regulations and standards.
    4. Superior communication (oral and written), interpersonal and leadership skills.
    5. Proactive and a self-starter that demonstrates initiative and an entrepreneurial attitude.
    6. Creativity in identifying and developing new business opportunities
    7. Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization, and with partners and stakeholders.
    8. Proven ability to implement effective safety programs.
    9. Good understanding of the clients’ business model and the needs of their customers.
    10. Creative, open-minded approach with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    11. A valid 4th Class steam ticket is preferred.

  • EHS Coordinator

    EHS Coordinator

    Located in Spruce Grove, AB, this position will provide full time support to the Environment, Health and Safety division. Reporting to the EHS Manager, the employee will work with other division personnel to ensure all practices are compliant with regional health and safety regulatory requirements, in various geographical locations. This position will be responsible for supporting the health and safety program including employee training and tracking, statistics tracking, and safety topic development. Field work may include but not limited to investigations, inspections, and audits. Occasional administrative support to the company environmental regulatory program will also be required.

    The role requires strong Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills, and previous experience with cloud-based data management software is an asset.  The employee will be working with many different departments and personnel so strong multi-tasking, prioritization, time management and organizational skills are required.  Occasional travel to field offices and remote locations is required.  

    Responsibilities:

    1. Manage and maintain client EHS databases internally and externally (ISNetworld/ComplyWorks).
    2. Update employee training records in client EHS databases.
    3. Assist managers in providing new-employee and sub-contractor health and safety orientations;
    4. Support development of weekly and monthly safety bulletins/presentations;
    5. Support COR audits.

    Qualifications:

    1. Health and Safety Administrator (HSA) Designation considered an asset.
    2. Minimum 2 years previous experience in site assessments and reporting.
    3. Ability to understand and apply local EHS laws and regulations.
    4. Employee must possess a valid class 5 driver’s license and current satisfactory drivers abstract.
    5. Proficient with Microsoft Office software including MS Word, Outlook, MS Excel and PowerPoint;
    6. First Aid, H2S Alive and CSTS-09 considered an asset.
    7. Superior organizational and time management skills; ability to meet deadlines
    8. Able to work well with others and have a proactive communicative approach, possesses a willingness and ability to learn
    9. Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills
    10. Patience and ability to adapt to changing situations, ability to interact intuitively and professionally with clients and coworkers, and to work independently and as part of a team

    The EHS Coordinator will work with many different people in a variety of environments. The job may involve considerable fieldwork and working long or irregular hours and the successful candidate may be exposed to many of the same physically strenuous conditions and hazards as industrial employees. The EHS Coordinator may also be required to travel frequently to sites, often located at very remote locations.

  • Terminal Superintendent

    Terminal Superintendent

    Our client is currently seeking a Terminal Superintendent to join their growing team in Fort McMurray, Alberta. This exciting role will support the day to day operations of the terminal and help foster a culture of growth. 

    Located 75 kilometres southeast of Fort McMurray, the rail and truck terminal is designed to provide oil sands producers with essential services within the Athabasca oil sands area. These services include handling diluent, dilbit, solvents and NGLs delivered to the Terminal by pipeline, truck and rail.

    Responsibilities:

    1. Coordinate daily operations and maintenance for the facility.
    2. Continuous development of staff and career progression.
    3. Lead and foster the health, safety, and environment program.
    4. Build strong customer and area stakeholder relations including the regional First Nation’s groups.
    5. Manage monthly operating and maintenance costs and development of annual budgets for the facility and pipeline infrastructure.
    6. Assist with managing new projects (Sulphur handling facility) and business initiatives by working with Engineering and Business Development groups.
    7. Lead and support the development and implementation of the Operational Excellence Management System at the facility.
    8. Participation as a member of the Liquids Infrastructure (LI) management team in setting annual and long-term goals for business growth.

    Qualifications:

    The successful candidate will be well-organized, energetic, and service oriented with the following qualifications:

    1. 10+ years experience in facility leadership that can include pipeline operation and maintenance.
    2. Understanding and intent of AER, OH&S, and TDG regulations.
    3. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    4. Demonstrated leadership skills.
    5. Qualified Power Engineering Certificate
    6. At the discretion of management, other combinations of relevant experience and educational credentials will be considered along with the need to reside in the Fort McMurray area.
